Many Years ago, I visited a new club which I had heard about in Wales called Denbigh. It was started as a private venture by Rod Witter (until recently the owner of Witter tow bars).
Rod had spotted the potential of the Clwyd Valley having a superb ridge but also being positioned downwind of the Snowdon mountain range generating excellent mountain waves in the same valley. Unlike Parham, their ridge faces the prevailing wind. Rod finally secured an excellent site and operated both Winch and aerotow and visitors started coming.
I visited with my DG202-17 in 1994 and had a great week managing my Diamond Height and another flight to 12,500’ off a winch launch. This certainly showed the potential of the site in my mind.
